Cat and Bear's Blog

This blog is somewhat an experiment to try and interact with the internet in a more deliberate and meaningful manner. The contributors are myself (Bearkunin) and my partner (Cat), an Australian couple interested in cooking, crafts, writing, history and politics.

Cat is a former academic with a background in literature and security studies who now works in the policy side of university research. Her passions include cooking, sci-fi and fantasy, with key favourite authors being Tamsyn Muir, Martha Wells, and Ann Leckie.

I, Bearkunin, am a contributor to the military-industrial complex with an academic background in strategic studies. My interests include liberalism with a Henry Georgist bent, international institutions with a critical geopolitics flavour, and Marxism with a Fukuyama influence. If that sounds insufferable, it's probably because I am.

About the Blog

I think like many people drawn into this particular blogging ecosystem, we have both become a little disillusioned with the algorithm-driven modern internet. There was something authentically messy, interestingly amateurish and wildly immersing about the internet of our youth that has been lost to the professional polish of 'content creator' social media feeds.

We want a space where we can document and share some of our creations, writings and other projects.
